‘Finding Stillness’ ~ Yoga & Meditation retreat
Balance comes not from holding onto a situation, but from making friends with heaven and earth. ~ Chögyam Trungpa
Our day to day lives can be the source of comfort, security and nourishment, but they can also leave us feeling stuck, sad and angry. likewise, our thoughts and daydreams can be the basis for both inspiration and frustration. This retreat is an invitation to look at the relationship we have with our ‘heaven’ and with our ‘earth’, and to make friends with them both using yoga and meditation in order to gain access to the still points that sits between them.
‘Earth’ represents gravity, food and material things. Earth is the exhale, it has a downward moving energy; it is the ground on which we stand, it is our foundation.
‘Heaven’ represents air, possibility, ideas and vision. ‘Heaven’ is the inhale, it’s the deep breath we take when we expand into space. Yoga and meditation are practices of joining those two forces, of balancing our need to toch the ground, to have deep roots to hold us steady in the most turbulent times, with our need to feel free, able to grow and explore.
In this week long retreat we will practice meditation, yin yoga and vinyasa, and use them as tool for examining our circumstances with calmness, trusting the ground we stand on, and giving ourselves to the open space of uncertainty.
Surrounded by mountains and sea, Casa Erica is very peacefully located on the coast of Andalusia, between Málaga and Nerja. It’s only a 600m walk to the beach. There are no disturbing neighbours or street noise. While being warmed by the sun you will enjoy the view over the countryside and the ocean. Between the yoga classes you can chill at the pool, enjoy a relaxing massage or discover the surroundings.
Expect healthy, delicious whole foods with influences from various cuisines. The Costa del Sol has its own micro climate because it is sheltered from the northern winds by the Sierra Nevada. The sub-tropical vegetation brings us tropical fruits such as avocados, guavas, cherimoyas, figs or passion fruit, depending on the time of the year – enriching our retreat menu.
